Trail Tech and the Qlink XF Supermoto - Future project?

I Have been researching the Trail Tech Computer for my "Q" I am seriously considering one......Problem is I have to buy the Generic Inverted fork Computer, and all it comes with is the Temp sensor for water cooled. So I have to spend another $30 just to get the Air Cooled Sensor. I wonder if they would offer me a custom kit if I e-mailed them? It's crazy to get a kit with a temp sensor that won't be used. I guess I could turn around and sell it on ebay and try to recoup a few dollars,,,,The Temp sensors are all $30 Plus the shipping cost. The other issue I have is the Key Ignition, I may have to fab up a mount and reloacte it of to the side some more. Other then that I'm looking at about another $200 investment to do it. I think this would be a first for a "q" with a trail tech - at least that I know of.......Debating this and still on the wall.....But definatley Considering it.....Anyone here do this already? If so I myself, and I am sure others would like to hear about it. Which one you got, along with ALL the details, Part #'s etc.....I will be posting more about this project soon......

Why Thanks Vince! Hehehehehe Yeah I guess it's just my fasination of being in the computer industry for the past 30 yrs. It's what I do. Well to answer your question Why do u use a GPS from time to time on your china bikes? Better Speed accuricey? A more detailed RPM Reading, Odometer, Better visibility and reading then the OEM Needles vibrating all over. Trip history. Plus it looks Cool! Hehehehehe. Did you happen to notice I think ChinaV's bike, has a NEW Look to it? Yep LED Digital readouts. Alot of Manuafactures are now using these. Yamaha Kawasaki to name a couple. I guess I like to Play and spend money too.......LOL
Yep just call me gadget boy....I also saved so much money on this CB that my budget allowed me to put my savings back into the bike itself....

I almost forgot - It reads MPH And RPM's - No conversion needed! LOL
Also has a built in Clock - I hate watches!

PS: Why 6 Bikes? You can only ride one a time! - LOL

I have debated a TT for The Dirt Rat.

The Dirt Rat has a speedometer/odometer already. The odo works fine but the speedo bounces widely.

How does the speed sensor, RPM sensor, and temp sensor work and hook up?

I think if you get one of the models set up for air cooled bikes it will have the correct temp sensor

Trail Tech has a well-deserved reputation for excellent customer service, Andrew.

If you make a telephone call to Trail Tech, and tell them what you wish to do, they will certainly send you a computer with the exact sensors you want.

However, since all the Trail Tech Vapors are the same, the different Vapor computer kits only differ according to the sensors included with them.

If you buy your Trail Tech Vapor from a third party vendor, you will save about $30 from the price charged if you purchase directly from Trail Tech.

If you are willing to do a little research at the Trail Tech website, you will discover some of the Vapor computer kits designed for ATVs include the speed sensor, and the CHT sensor you desire. Therefore, you can order one of these ATV kits from a third party, get exactly what you want, and save $30.

Check eBay, and the various online vendors for the best price. Currently, I think the best prices for the different Trail Tech, Vapor computer kits are probably offered by the following vendors.

Just make sure you get the CHT sensor with the correct diameter for your spark plug.

Once again, if you check the Vapor kits designed for ATVs with air cooled engines, you will find a number of different computer kits containing a variety of speed sensors, and CHT sensors. Frequently, you can get an excellent deal on one of the ATV kits that has the exact components you desire.

You might also consider getting a smaller, CHT sensor, and attaching it to a bolt on the cylinder head, instead of attaching it to the spark plug. The spark plug attachment frequently bends the CHT sensor, and presents other difficulties.

I considered purchasing a Trail Tech Vapor for my Zong, and attaching the CHT sensor to one of the bolts securing the cylinder head to the bike's frame.

Many Honda, XR650L owners recommend attaching the CHT sensor to one of the banjo bolts that feeds oil to the cylinder head. These alternate connections for the CHT sensor are more protected, and more permanent than a spark plug connection that must be removed, and reattached, every time you examine, or replace the spark plug.

I did e-mail trail tech awhile back - One of the confusions is this: The "q" Has Inverted forks and they are air cooled. NONE of thier kits that are AIR Cold say they work with inverted forks (Don't say they don't either) But the guy who e-mailed me back kept refering to the forks, weather they were conventional or inverted - what this has to do with "THE KITS" is beyond me or why? and of course the temp sensor for air cooled engine. Again what difference does the forks make other then maybe the speed sensor? Not sure......

yep im fairly sure its the speed sensor / tach , similar to how the bicycle ones work.

For reference the lifan and xr400 share the same size spark plugs
