Headlight rock cage interest?
I know a guy who builds custom brazed cage chassis for R/C rock crawling trucks and is going to build a cage for my RX headlight.
Told him there may be interest in this from others. Anyone interested? |

Headlight Cover
This is one of the new add-ons they are including in the version 2 RX3 they are selling here in Colombia. Not sure if its from Zongshen or the local company here AKT but you may want to check with CSC to see if they can get them. Of course in this picture the install is not complete. It uses the lower windshield holes for the top connection point.

thanks for the info Mike. I just emailed CSC to ask if they can obtain these.
Honestly, the design in my head for what I want to make would look better than that, but certainly would not be as easy as just buying one. Spud...anything like this on Taboa? (or however it's spelled....) |

What I envision would be little different from a classic Baja style cage, but instead of a giant round lamp, the outer shape is the weird kidney bean shape our RX's headlight shell's shape exhibits.
Think I'll proceed on a home fabbed one regardless of the outcome of the SA accessory. That is unless CSC already has it in the works. |

That's a cool idea. Can he make it out of stainless?

I think most of his work is done with uncoated 1/4" brake line, brazed.
Strong and light, he then burns off any residual oils and powdercoats. At least that's how he brazes the 1/10 scale R/C cage chassis he constructs. And this guy does fantastic work, so it should be an easy task compared to what he normally builds. |

Solid SS wire should be relatively easy to work with, and there would be no corrosion issues. That said, I've never tried to braze SS.

The R/C trucks he builds are constantly smashed through rocks, etc, and the chassis hold up well. If interested, here's a few pics of MY 1/10 scale R/C rock crawler, just doin a little crawlin' |

How does the guard attach at the bottom, Mike?
Here are some more photos of the headlight guard I found at the Facebook page you recommended.
