Yep, I like your thinking.

Hopefully this engine can handle it at a low PSI setting

A Mikuni VM-26 carburetor is usually the easiest answer for carbs. What's wrong with the rear drum brake?

My rear drums are getting warn fast I want to find more before I really need them. So today I pulled the head pipe off my bike and the plug. the plug was very black and scorched looking, and when I peaked into the exhaust port my exhaust valve was covered in a thick layer of carbon. Any suggestions? I just cut the cat off and wow was that thing dense!

Running rich. I assume this was before you cut the cat off. What size main jet you have?

You have to adjust the rear brake often? The shoes have to bed in to the drum, maybe that is what is going on. Or you have the brake pedal adjusted too high and your foot is riding it, that will cause rapid brake wear...ARH

I adjusted the brakes there good now. I also just purchased a new battery but I'm still not getting anything to turn on. I can kick start it and the cluster will light up and work but for some reason my battery will not turn anything on. Any suggestions?

I know this is a super old thread but I’m new so I missed it back in 2017. Jerry did you ever end up buying that EFI kit off of aliexpress?

No. I put that on the back burner for now due to funding issues.
