Headlight design change?

I noticed my RX3 that just arrived has a different front headlight. No blu-ish tint circle in the bottom.

Is that a "functioning" parking or running light? OH, wait, you don't have the LED running lights along the side of your headlight.... big change.

Yes, it's different... seems to be a 5W parking light.
Also lacks the 5-LED stripes at both sides of the reflector.

Thanks for posting the excellent photos, and letting us know about the headlight change, Lee.

I like your headlight better than the original. I think the new reflector might cast a better beam without the blue dome in the bottom.

Did it come with a 35 watt lamp? Fingers crossed it's a 55 watt.

I think I can read 'HS1' at the 9 o'clock position on the base of the bulb. I'm sure its a 35W bulb, since the headlight has a plastic reflector. I wish Zongshen would build the headlight with a metal reflector.

The RX3 headlight casts a nice beam. However, the stock, 35W HS1 bulb is anemic. I highly recommend you switch to a standard, 55W/60 H4 bulb. It will do a much better job illuminating the road ahead. However, to prevent possible heat damage to the reflector from the hotter bulb, I do recommend you make a hole in the rear of the headlight assembly, as shown in the thread linked below.

I hesitated to write for lamp type, because different and i thin more sensitive electirical because RX3 injection system, if any voltage accident=much expensive damaged.

İm use my (Sm/dirtbike carb vers.)Philips xtreme vision H4 60/55w , very nice performance.

discussed Lee's different headlight with CSC today. Seeing as my bike shipped only two days after his and mine had the earlier headlight. So I asked why
Seems the Canada bike required the new design to meet their regulations.
CSC has decided to simplify by changing over on US as well.

I had not seen the new headlight before now. That is very interesting information; thanks for sharing it with us.

Agreed with Spud - thanks for sharing!

For those of us that like the original headlight, I wonder if we should order a spare now?

Of course, I'd like to see if there's a beam pattern difference between the headlights. If the newer headlight offers a broader beam pattern, I might make the switch (but I like the LEDs of the original!)

You make a good point, RT. If a headlight filament is burnt out at dusk, the LED panels still continue to make the bike visible to other motorists.

Not surprised. Transport Canada is very strict.

I rode the bike last night but didn't get any pictures. I can still say the 35w bulb is inadequate and I'll be switching to a 55/60w bulb. The pattern was good esp the high beam just not enough light. Honestly it's a bit dangerous up here with all the deer to not have adequate lighting.

I'll get some shots of the throw once the rain leaves here in Upstate NY.
