Original shock is out and new shock won't go in because when I measure across the top shock eye bushings the Progressive bushings are .040 wider. So I'm at my shop now remedying that. When I installed my CSC center stand it was to wide also by about .040. Maybe my bike run was built to different dimensions then later/earlier ones? Don't know. All fixable stuff ,just time consuming. Or maybe its so frosty freezy here everything has shrunk up .040?
For others installing the Progressive shock. It would be a help to have another person on the LH side of bike to kinda scrunch down the air filter boot with a dull something as you push/pound out the bolt from the RH side. I did mine by myself and had to go back and forth as the bolt dug into the boot and started peeling off material from the boot even after greasing up where the bolt head contacted the boot. rj

You don't need to machine the bushings. I just tapped the shock mount farther apart with a punch and hammer.

The cold was your problem. I didn't damage the manifold of the air box in the slightest. However, I installed my shock when the temperature was 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

All back together now and the wait till it warms up enough to take it for a ride.
Suppose to get down to 15 deg tonight.
Have to curl up with Clement Salvadori's latest book and hibernate I guess.

These are good tips! I got my progressive shock yesterday and I'm taking notes for when I do my install. It's been below freezing in Denver so not sure when I'll get to install it.

is there a way to change from Greenwich Mean Time to Pacific time on here so when I look at the Zongshen RX3 forum it would be in Pacific time ? I get discombuberated when I see the times and they say yesterday and my day isn't half over. rj

Yes, you can choose the time settings in your control panel. Once in the control panel, go to 'Settings and Options.' Choose 'Edit Options.' Under 'Date and Time Options,' choose the correct time zone.

Thanks Spud , didn't even know we had a control panel. I've only really looked at RX3 and ride report forums. Time to go explore on here I think, rj

You're welcome. While you are in the control panel, add a nice avatar for yourself.

The User Control Panel is the 'UserCP' link, which is the leftmost link, in white letters, located just below the main banner of every webpage.

There are options? I just don't know what my limits are. I keep wondering if I should upgrade from Windows 98, just not sure what's compatible with this Commodore64. Suggestions from the tech savvy?

Personally, I never would have left Windows 98, except Bill Gates forced my hand.

If someone installs the Progressive shock absorber in cold weather, he can heat the manifold of the air box with a hair dryer. I'm betting the extra heat will make the plastic more pliable, and facilitate the removal of the top shock bolt.

P.S. I like your new avatar, Rob.

I tried Win 10 and it screwed up my email. Can receive emails but can't sent them out. They go into oblivion . None make it into my Sent folder. Uninstalled it next day, still have email problem. If the Chinese can build an RX3, why can't MS get it right?
Good suggestion Spud for using a hair dryer. My air boot was pretty stiff almost like hard plastic with just a skosh of flex. rj
