That's what I figured. I wonder if an XR400 header would fit, rather than twin pipes. It would give it a scrambler look.

Genuine's 400cc Motorcycle
Have any of you read about or seen the new "motorcycle" that Genuine Scooter Co. will soon be importing into the USA?
It's an updated version of the Honda CB400 from the 60's and 70's. Read about it in C2W Magazine. A little bigger displacement, more horsepower and ride ability. A 400cc, 4valve, air cooled, both electric/kick start, thumper. Basically a modernized Hondaoid from the past. It supposedly will be available at Geniune's 200 USA dealers. I'm looking forward to viewing and riding this new (old) Chinese motorcycle. |

Yes, I've seen it referenced on this forum before, but I'm always happy to chat about it.
The motor is closer to a CRF motor than a CB, since it's actually a single. I'm falling in love with it. I'm already visualizing it with a set of clip-ons and rearsets.

It's powered by a NC38E clone XR400M ('06-'08) had that engine

Looks like genuine has more smarts than a lot of the japs. A maxie scooter is just a waste of every thing. They do nothing well and cost almost double or more than the new genuine 400. But for the uncorordinated who can't learn to shift and 10 grand of extra money......
I bought a majesty when my knee was so bad I wasn't sure I could hold a bandit up at a stop light, big mistake, should have waited till I had the knee replaced and kept the bike |

I like maxi scooters for what they are. If it's your only vehicle, it sure is handy to be able to transport groceries home on the hooks between your knees, in the trunk and under the seat. Forum member AtomicWedgie had a Silverwing 600, and it was a pleasure to ride. It cornered really well, and it had a nice low CG. It would cruise comfortably on the highway all day long.
A similar sized sport bike doesn't have any storage, unless you start adding tank bags, etc. I realize that a sport bike is built for a different purpose, but they're certainly far from utilitarian. A DS can be fitted with a trunk and panniers, but a maxi scooter is designed for cargo right out of the box. It just depends on what your needs are. /hijack

I'm very interested in this bike. My wife has a TU250X, which she loves, but it's a bit small for me. The G400C is a little taller and longer and might be just the ticket. There's a Genuine Scooter shop near me, so it'll be easy to check them out in person when they come out next year.
