That's my point. They are not "close to the same". They are different bikes by different manufacturers. The Hawk is made by Haosen ans the Brozz is made by Bashan. There is a difference.

If you plan on removing the catalytic converter also drill a few holes in the baffle. I drilled four 3/4" holes in mine to help it flow better. I plan on putting a larger diameter tail piece and spark arrestor.

Just curious, what main jet and slow speed jet does the Brozz come with? The Hawk came with a 98 main and 20 slow speed. But the main jet won't have anything to do with cold start. The proper idle mixture, slow jet size and needle position will. Bashan may have done a better job at tuning idle mixture.

The temp is in the mid 50s so maybe that is the way it is?

So you other Brozz owners you do not need to choke or use throttle to start your bike when cold?

I own this bike and mine was perfectly set up except for a small Idle adjustment. This is NOT a Hawk, it's a Bashan and it shouldn't need any mods to run correctly and do 65+MPH out of the box... faster after break in....

Thanks for the input I just like to tweak things so if you can do 65+ I hope mine can do better

I think I will gut the catalytic. Does anybody have a post on what else can be done to the stock exhaust to let it breath better?

Then I will probably either get the china Mikumi or redo the PZ30 leaning towards the Mikumi just because more people have jetted these and I have seen instructions.

Thanks for all the info guys.
I've found that on my brozz that using full choke is only necessary for maybe 5 to 10 seconds and then I drop to half and let it idle for maybe 30 seconds then turn the choke off and it seems to idle on it own after that and once warmed up, idles around 1300 rpm or so. I also want to modify my stock exhaust, but was wondering if there was a jet kit for our carbs? Just want a little more power and the bike to breathe better. Probably not going to do anything else.

But they both use clones of a Honda engine design. Ergo most of the mods would probably crossover due to being essentially the same engine other then the fact one may be counter balanced and one may not be. But the vast majority of them seem to be the Non counter balanced.

I do not think improving the breathing and improving the exhaust is equivalent to putting a supercharger on a Pinto. The reason I bought this bike was to be able to enjoy a new bike and to be able to work on it. 30 years ago I played around with bikes all the time.

And by tweaking this bike I doubt seriously I will shorten its life.

The changes I am making apply to all engines an engine is like an air pump whatever I can do to get more air thru it the better it will be.

So be it a Hawk or a Brozz the same principals apply. So if it breaths better I will need to rejet it not a big deal.

Thanks for the info this is what I was asking. Also thanks for the exhaust info.

Just a new muffler and proper jetting gave my Qlink XP 200 a "dyno proven" extra 5hp. When you start with only 15, that's a substantial percentage jump.

I've done just the normal mods (pod filter, carb, proper jetting and muffler) to most of my CG motors and it makes them much more crisp, for sure. I have no dyno number for those though. It would be nice if we had someone here with a dyno, as we did in the past.

No problem. If I remember Letsride like Sany didn't have to do anything to the Carburetor on his Brozz. Maybe Bashan had to lean them out on the newer models to meet EPA standards. Who knows. But I think just gaining access to the idle mixture screw and adjusting it will help out on the cold starts.

Nice looking bike but I don't see any dirt, that must be the before picture. Just a thought, you could play hockey with the same helmet...

I got this bike more for riding the street with occasional trail riding. I did not get it for dirt biking The tires are not up to it.
