You pulled off the totally wrong part etc etc.
Here's a link if this helps with a basic tool set for such a job...

If I recall the valve train cap also has HEAD NUTS - you will want to re-torque etc and hopefully no other issues do to head being released.

While it's apart you could add some roller rocker in there, be a little quieter n smoother action etc
Ill have to look up on roller rocker, thanks! never used it before. Hey theres another good thing that came out of this mistake

I thought about Hi comp piston cyl kit n roller rockers as an upgrade etc - just havent listed it yet etc etc.
Hard to know where to put in the effort in parts to source n sell etc.

These engines have little to no real upgrades - stator has options, carb and high comp piston cyl kit etc.
I think a 6 speed possible as well but that then is a total engine strip down.......

Most guys tend to just fix what's broken......

Is there a sealant required for the 'caps'?

Im no expert but I would say no. There are rubber gaskets under each of the caps. Also there was no sealer on the caps when I took them off besides those rubber ones that are on there.

I like to put a thin film of grease on the O-rings, so they don't stick to the surface when I try to remove them.
