A suggestion for Dual Sport rear tire is the MOTOZ TRACTIONATOR DESERT H / T HARD TERRAIN TUBE TYPE. I started using this last season it preforms extremely well in every terrain I've run.
I continue to eyeball PSM for 300cc bikes but nothing yet. There's a newcomer hitting US market this year KOVE keep your eye out for this company it looks very promising! The Parent company is Tibet New s Summit Motorcycle CO. I'm honestly considering the KOVE 450 Rally but its the new NC450 Zongshen motor with double overhead cam version no parts available yet.. I've been running this Templar X 5 speed hard for a solid year as of today March 24th. Purchased a Xtra set of tires and swap out from Factory 13x50 to 14x42 often. Works for me. I can trail ride mostly by slipping the clutch reducing speed in technical situations. Found some used rear foot pegs from Yamaha XT250 fits these bikes. Also Pannier rack from Happy Trails looks promising for this bike. Will attach a link. Good info on the rear pegs.. wish I had known sooner.. one of my rear fell out while riding in the past and recently I bought a $10 generic set on Amazon and had to rig it to work, it does but definitely took some finagling to drill out the holes and get it to function

Hi Folks,
I'm so happy to report back over the new idle speed screw I ordered it from Aliexp and it took a while to arrive but it works. Unfortunately the big Knob actually is a small knob, only slightly bigger than 5/8", but it worked. I took it out for a run for about 15 miles and was impressed how much power it has. Mine is X-pro with 6-speed but #6 will not show on the instrument gauge, haha. Only show up to #5. Since it's in break-in period, I only tried to ride on 55mph @6K rpm. it'll go higher if I pushed it. I'm a happy man finally ![]() Now, here is some help I need. The engine will start right on if I had the choke lever fully depressed. I need to hold it and adjust the idle speed screw (ISS) to close to fully closed until the exhaust pipe red hot then I can relax on choke, or, the engine will bog and die. Once the exhaust pipe is red hot ( about 4-5k rpm), I can lower the rpm to 2.5k for idling. Is this okay with normal operation? Also, during riding, once I relaxed the throttle to zero, it bogged a couple at all speed, is this normal or I need to re-jet. Today here at Cincinnati is around 60's. I had the exact same symptoms when I drilled the airmixture screw cover and opened it to ~2 turns. Close that down until it behaves. Mine likes 1 turn, or even a bit less, but I changed to a #42 pilot jet (up from #40) as well. If you haven't rejet, START there!

Is it necessary to stay within 35 mph during the break-in period as the manual suggested? I have a hard time to not go over 50 mph when road condition permits.

It is rpm, not speed that you need to watch. Keep it under 6000rpm and don't give it full throttle when rpm is high, especially.

I was wanting to find an analog oil temp gauge to monitor my new Templar X. I saw throughout this thread the Suzuki RMZ250 was quite a similar bike to the Templar. So I took a chance and bought this oil cap gauge which fits that Suzuki. Can confirm fits the Templar X perfect! (Note: this is the HTT-2 model)

I assembled it myself, tried to take and my time and do it right. Electrical seems to be in working order with new battery and she turns over really well. I did pull the plug and visually see spark (possibly could have been stronger). But even after 10-20sec of cranking I cant get it to fire once, and when I pull the spark its dry and doesn't smell of gas... And I confirmed fuel flow downstream of the fuel filter... Megadan suggested valve adjustment which I agree needs to be done. Didnt think valves out of adjustment would cause an issue similar to this though. I am really starting to suspect fuel is not getting into the engine, although I do believe it is getting to the carb... ![]() ![]() |

You can verify if fuel is making it to the carb by opening the bowl drain screw and see if any fuel comes out.
