Templar X best starting setup.

Hi guys. I have a 22 Templar X with 1200 miles on it. I was wondering, with an hot engine. Does any one else have to wind on the starter for about 3-4 revolutions before it starts up? I really like for a motorcycle engine to start on first touch of the starter. If at all possible. I’ve tried setting the air/fuel screw differently. But no change. Once it starts. It idles fine. It’s jetted 125/45 @ 500 ASL. Thanks guys!

Hi Hap, maybe the valves need a look at. My bike is a ‘21 Hawk DLX and that’s what I’d do first, just my thoughts…

I opened up my valve gaps at 300 miles. They were tight. You can get starting difficulties from too tight of a valve gaps.

Yeah. Adjust the valves. And 45 pilot jet might be too rich. The pilot being a little on the rich side shouldn't prevent it from starting right away, just won't need choke!

I would guess valves, yes. Mine pops to life instantly. Yours should too. If it isn't better after adjusting the valves, I would be surprised!
