I posted this because of the way the owner modified this Savage. He cleaned-away-the-bling, painted the tins with some nice charcoal paint and swapped for a mustang seat. No expensive kit or additions.
We had a thread on Savages a while back. They are simple to own and maintain, but they has a tough time keeping up with Sportsters and Scouts.
It was tough to figure out how to reduce the file size enough to post it here.

Freaking juvenile male bird has been beating itself up on reflections and crapping all over my truck for weeks now. Hope the lonely sucker finally finds someone soon. Have to leave the windows up or he craps on my door panels.
This is about all I can do to deter it, at the moment.....besides pellet gun.

Spot....a she dog....will take all the treats you can offer! And yes, it's been a long row to hoe, but she'll be two years on July 14.....and is a very good dog, especially for her young age.
Like I tell people, "We used to be very strict with our dogs. They knew their limits and boundaries. With Spot now? Don't shit in the house and come when you're called." We set the bar low this time. She's very happy and VERY spoiled. Damn Cattle Dogs are super smart.

Oh shoot, sorry Spot! I’ve lost 2 very good dogs, a border collie and a black lab and I’ve thought about getting another but don’t know if I could take the loss again, they become so close to you after time

So we went to Gadsden Alabama today to meet a dog we're thinking about adopting. It was tons faster to hop in the plane and fly over instead of drive. It appears that meeting a dog is very tiring for Mrs E and the Mutant... :hehe:

Over time, you will probably come to the idea that the joy of having a pet far outweighs the pain of their loss. The way I look at it now, I know that I provided them with a really good life and when it is their time, well that's that. After a short period of grieving, time to get another buddy and give him/her a great life too..

We did adopt him, but we couldn't fit the crate in the plane, and didn't want to have him spooked by a plane ride with strangers. I'm driving out tomorrow to pick him up in person. I'll get some pictures then!

That was one thing I always took with me in my flight training days. There are two types of flight instructors: One (usually the younger one who just got his instructors ticket, is just building time to go to the airlines, and just watched Top Gun for the four-hundredth time) would demonstrate a stall by standing the airplane on its tail, and the subsequent break over would float everyone six inches above their seats. The other (invariably the retired guy who instructs to keep his skills sharp and share a genuine passion of flying with the next generation) would demonstrate a stall in a much more real-world scenario. Reduce power, gently pull the yoke back until the airspeed bleeds off, and the break would be very gentle and easily recoverable. Personally, I always tried to demonstrate the second type of stall as often as I could. Sometimes you'd get an advanced student who really grasped the hows and the whys, and you could do an accelerated stall and all the forces at work would make sense to them, but that's really the only time there's any value to such aggressive and exaggerated maneuver demonstrations.

Forgot to say, congrats on the new family member BTW.
Another saying I like to remind myself of is that 4WD helps you to go, but it doesn't help you to stop. Every winter I see 4WD SUVs on the side of the road, where overconfident drivers overdrove the road conditions.

My personal opinion is that 4WD is only good to get you stuck further away from help...In my entire life I have only ever needed 4WD two times:
1. when snow was so high the bumper was being used as a plow. Subaru Loyale with all-season tires.
b. driving on a mountain back road in former Yugoslavia, trying to get to the Romanian border in a foot of snow. 4WD Toyota Tercel wagon with snow tires.

Merlin is supposed to be a black lab/border collie mix. I think there's got to be some boxer in there somewhere because everytime he drinks, we need to mop the floors... :ohno: Regardless, he's been great so far. There've been a couple inevitable accidents in the house, but we put him right out, clean up the mess, and everything is fine. We're really happy with him, and he seems to be really happy to be here with us.

Back when I was flying, my mantra was "A Superior Pilot becomes an old pilot by avoiding situations that require his Superior Skills".
One of our "adopted kids" (local kids who adopted us?) graduated with her RN on Saturday with a 4.0. Sooooo proud of her. She's been in SF the last 2.5 years, going to nursing school full time and working two jobs to support herself through the process. It's youngin's like her that give me hope for the future.

So I took my Roces roller blades that I have not been on in years. I keep them in an old Descente bike messenger bag that hung on my shoulder when I bicycled to work. While taking a breather, I went through a couple of the pockets to see what I probably forgot about. I found an uncashed expense check from 2010 for $120.00.:wtf:

This was Monday.I was in N. WI at my brothers place for a couple days of sledding. My first time in over 30 years. My SIL and his Dad were there, too. Anyway, this was at the end of our high speed run. I hit 93 mph and it was a hoot. It was also our final high speed tun as my SILs rental sled turned out to be governed to 65 mph. So, we limited the rest of the time to between 25 and 50 on the trails.
We racked up about 150 miles on Monday. Tuesday was just under 140 and the last 3 hours were in the rain. Bleah!
