Detours at Mount Evans

Yesterday, my wife and I took the bikes up to the Mount Evans wilderness area. We intended to go to the top, but ran out of time and had to turn around. But we had a great time on Squaw Pass Road from Evergreen to Idaho Springs. Here are some pics of us goofing off at one of the overlooks.

Here's a map of our route. We stayed off the interstate and took only state roads and scenic byways. Squaw Pass road is amazing ... sweeping curves, steady elevation gains, and finally Echo Lake at 10,600 feet. We had lunch at the Echo Lake Lodge before heading back down.

Nice Joel,

Our paths crossed yesterday. I nearly took the Squaw Pass road over to Idaho Springs on my way back from Rampart Ridge yesterday.

Cheers,

Dan K.

Mrs. Detours is the perfect woman. She's out there riding with you, and she's obviously loving it.

Thanks! We try to do a long ride every weekend and it's a lot of fun.

My wife is a Colorado native but we're going places she's never been and she says rediscovering her old haunts from a bike saddle is a completely different experience.

We only got the TU in June and she's already put over 3000 miles on it riding with me and to her home care nursing visits. The funny thing is we both only learned to ride last year and she completely fell in love with it. I've only put 1800 on the RX3 but I'm splitting miles with the Vstrom too.

My wife and I are currently camping in Colorado, just north of Gunnison. Since there's the two of us we brought the Spyder in the toy hauler. Yesterday we rode to Crested Butte, then on to Gothic. Today we're headed for Lake City and Creede. So far the riding has been spectacular, we love Colorado.
