Economical adventure gear?
So, I'd like to do some dirt roads when my RX3 comes in. May join a local club. Going to need some gear. Any recommended boots, jackets, gloves, etc you see our user that work well? Not looking to drop big money since it will be infrequent. I spent my childhood in MX boots. Looking for something more comfortable.

I generally wear some Bates Tactical Boots when I ride, very comfortable, but not the same protection as a pair of MX boots....but you can walk all day in them.
I have several different jackets, and gloves...for varying weather...but I've been gathering gear for many years.

I wear a M2R jacket (Made To Ride), and it has been terrific. It has removable armour, decent zippered venting, a removable liner and Tron-like reflective piping. It was a good buy at $100.00.

I like Mechanix M-Pact gloves for warmer weather. They offer excellent protection, and they absorb a little vibration.

ARC Battle Born jacket and pants
Hello CSaddict,
I just bought the Rocky Mountain ATV house brand adventure jacket and pants, the A.R.C. Battle Born. It arrives today, I'll post an update when I receive it. Price was $199 for the jacket and $139 for the pants. Maybe not as dirt-oriented as you were looking for but I thought I would mention it. I noticed the shipment included a free "tactical t-shirt". I'm still in the market for a new helmet, preferably with bluetooth so any advice from the group is appreciated. I'm looking forward to the arrival of my new RX3 as well.... Cheers! |

I have several helmets, and I picked up a couple of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/261260173214...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT For the wife and I, and ordered 3 extra headsets to mount in some of my other helmets http://www.ebay.com/itm/261261338678...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT For $42 for the Bluetooth unit, and $8 for extra headsets, I didn't expect much, but was pleasantly surprised at how well the Bluetooth works between riders, work well with my phone or GPS....you can only Bluetooth between 2 headsets, but works great for us

Thanks Huck I will check them out! My A.R.C. gear arrived and fits and looks great. I'm 5'10", 180 and the large jacket and 36" pants are perfect for me. The pants with the liner fit comfortably, and without the liner I will be able to fit pants underneath for commuting convenience. The free T shirt included is actually made from nice material and has a nice looking graphic. No road test until the new bike arrives

My Tourmaster Transition jacket was a good buy at $200. Lots of vents for summer, good liner for winter, all armor included. Lots of pockets and fully waterproof too.

Back in the day good riding gear was $$$, even for textiles.
Nowadays, I suppose with most all production in countrys with low wages, good gear is very inexpensive, although I know that is a relative term. A good way to save some $ is to use insulated rubber famer's boots from the farm supply store. Waterproof, warm, comfortable, and good protection. You won't win a beauty contest but your feet will be happy.

Rojo_Grande and I just got Sidi Adventure Gortex boots from http://www.biker-land.de/Motorcycle-...Tex-boots.html. Maybe not economical, but definitely cheaper than our local store.

Does anyone know the "season" for gear? I bought my jacket in AZ around April off the rack of last year's gear on clearance for $50. I'm not sure if I was lucky or that is the best time to buy.
