Hawk 250 Storage Options
Hey everyone, what do you all suggest for storage options?
Saddle bags, back mount etc. I do mostly trail riding but also ride on the road to. 70/30 split. I want to be able to keep tools, spare parts, drinks etc. Nothing crazy big. |

When I clicked on this I was thinking like, shed, garage, etc. HAHA.
So I have the same idea as you for what I'd like storage for and I'm making myself a rear rack and then I'll mount either a bag or hard case to the rack. I'm also considering taking the tiny little tool holder off and putting a full size burrito tube in it's place.

I picked up one of those Rigid brand tool organizer boxes for next to nothing, and bolted it down to the tail piece. It works great for lugging around a spare tube, a small compressor, and a few odds and ends. If I'm going to be gone for more than a few hours, I'll take the DR and load the saddle bags and top case up on it. But for a quick run down the trails and to the gas station to fuel up, the top case on the Hawk is plenty.

http://http://I have both a small trunk ( just large enough to close, and lock on a full face helmet), and cheap textile saddle bags on mine. I think both have been at some sacrifice to aesthetics , but the bike is far more practical. I did have to mend a corner of one bag , and extend my muffler heat guard, and now all is good. The bags look all wrinkled, and flat without much in them, but each side has two separate zipper secured compartments, and hold a lot. They also have a rubber like inner lining to aid in water resistance. I got mine on sale for around $15 ,I think. They claim to normally sell for a good bit more, but if I was going to spend very much more I would buy better bags.

Do you notice any drag or loss of speed with those bags or the hard case? |

Fully loaded with like 100lbs of gear they take away a little acceleration only.

Yes, I was just thinking that the human sitting in front of the luggage is much less aerodynamic than anything hung on the bike!

Check out Jerry Hawk's YouTube videos. He links up to the trunk he installed. I installed the same one and also did the brake light mod and it has worked out great.
Extra lighting for the tailgaters and plenty of storage. |
